Emery started 1st grade this month. His teacher is Mrs. Phillips. He rides the bus in the morning and afternoon this year again. He loves to read and is getting better every day. Lucy enjoys it when Emery reads her stories! Emery also loves to play with Andrew. He is a great big brother!
Lucy is a very talkative lady lately! She loves to dress up in her princess dresses, have her hair and nails done, and try on shoes. She loves to dance and pose for the camera, and make silly faces. She got to go to a princess birthday party for her friend from church, Sophie. It was amazing and fun! She also loves to go to the zoo and park. Lucy had her first visit to the dentist, and did great! She was very brave and excited the whole time. Dr. Brian talked with her about her thumb sucking. So, she is working on giving up her thumb sucking habit and doing a pretty good job at it. We are using a special nail polish that has a bad taste after it dries. It helps her remember to keep her fingers out of her mouth. She had quite a big fall this month, falling off the top step of the bunk bed. Her foot got caught and she hit the wood floor head first. It was at bedtime, so I stayed with her to calm her down until she fell asleep. The next day she began throwing up. I took her in to the pediatrician and they thought we had better get a CT scan to check things out. It came back looking normal but she still was complaining of a headache (obviously!), not acting herself, and throwing up. She threw up 8 times that day. I was very worried but the next day she was back to her talkative self, and hasn't thrown up since. We feel so blessed that she is alright! Now that Emery is back to school, we are doing a little preschool at home to work on ABC's. Lucy really loves it when we do our "school home".
Andrew is a busy boy. He spends most of the day crawling around and getting into cupboards, drawers, baskets, and pulling things off the shelves. He loves to eat, especially things he can feed himself! He had his first Popsicle and loved it! He loves to be around Lucy and Emery and feeds off of their energy. He also really loves to swing when we go to the park!
We went to the Simpsonville Harvest Moon Festival at the end of the month. It is much like a small fair. The kids rode a few rides and we shared a funnel cake, yum! Lucy and Emery each went on a mini date with Mom or Dad to spend some time just one on one. I took Lucy to Krispy Kreme to get a doughnut and then another day I took Emery to get an Icee at Target. Joel took Emery to Krispy Kreme and another day took Lucy to get icecream. Occasionally we meet Joel for lunch on a weekday and the kids really love to see Dad for a bit before he has to go back to work! I had a "day off" where I was able to go do some outlet shopping, eat out for lunch, and just have a little time for myself. The last time I did that was when Emery was 7 months old, so it was much anticipated! I felt so rejuvenated and excited to get back home to my wild and sweet kids!
